VFD Installation and Troubleshooting

Recommended Installation Techniques and Troubleshooting VFD's

Ask yourself the following questions:

  1. Are your variable frequency drives tripping frequently causing unnecessary downtime?
  2. Are other devices in your panel tripping with no explanation?
  3. Do your motors need to be replaced or repaired more often than you would expect?

If you answered yes to any of the questions above, then our recommendation would be to review the industry standards and recommendations for installing drives with really long motor leads. Following the installation techniques and recommendations will help any variable frequency drive application avoid those unneeded headaches and unnecessary downtime that costs precious time and money.

Rockwell Automation has both the industry standards and recommendations for drive installations available for all your VFD applications. Below are those documents and they are not only for the Powerflex Drives; but also include the industry standards for all VFD’s ranging from the incoming power filtering, to enclosure, enclosure layout, and all the way to the proper motor connection.

If you would like to learn more or have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to your Revere account manager or drives specialist for the expertise to help you properly design any of your new or existing VFD applications.
