OSHA Regulation On Respirable Crystalline Silica Dust

According to OSHA, over 2 million construction workers a year are exposed to crystalline silica dust. Found in materials like concrete, tile, rock, stone and brick, exposure to silica dust can be a major cause of a fatal cancer known as silicosis.

Starting September 23, 2017, the OSHA regulation on respirable crystalline silica dust (29 CFR 1926.1153) will be enforced for construction trades. This regulation reduces the Permissible Exposure LImit (PEL) to 50 pg/m3 over an 8-hour period and will affect jobsites nationwide.

Rockwell Automation - SequenceManager in Studio 5000 Logix Designer V28.00 Connection between Sequence and Phase Disconnects

This Product Notice informs you of an anomaly that exists with the SequenceManager in Studio 5000 Logix Designer V28.00.xx. When an ACD file containing sequence and phase programming is uploaded from a controller, the connection between the phase and the sequence disconnects. On subsequent downloads, this disconnection results in recipe changes from the sequence not being acted on by the phase in the controller.

Full correction of this anomaly requires upgrading your Studio 5000 Logix Designer to V28.01.00 or later. V28.01.00 is expected to be available for download from the Rockwell Automation Product Compatibility and Download Center (PCDC) on or before end of May 2016.

This may result in one or more of the three redundant systems in the module stopping during operation or not starting, as indicated by one or more of the "Healthy" LEDs on the front of the module flashing.

An affected module may intermittently start correctly but may subsequent stop operating during operation. Even though a module appears to be working correctly, modules identified by serial number as described in the Product Identification section of this document, must be returned for factory repair to correct the anomaly.

CORRECTION:
Customers should contact their Trusted system integrator and make arrangements to return product identified in the Product Identification section of this document for repair. Reference this Product Notice PN 2015-07-001 when requesting product repair services.
